Aurora Criminal History Checks

An Aurora sheriff incident report request needs the OCA, or Originating Case Agency number, from the deputy's card. If that number is missing, give the office the approximate Aurora date, time and location, involved parties, and deputy name. The sheriff also accepts contact at info@co.beaufort.nc.us and written mail. If a trooper or another state officer handled the Aurora event, use that agency instead.

Aurora Records Follow the Responder
An Aurora location does not by itself identify the Aurora record custodian. Beaufort County deputies may respond to Aurora calls, while the Highway Patrol may handle an Aurora traffic stop or crash. A narrowly framed Aurora request names the record type, date range, Aurora location, agency, and case or OCA number. It asks for an existing Aurora report, not a new explanation or research project.
Booking and Arrest Records in Aurora

The Aurora Municipal Court File
Aurora has no confirmed municipal criminal trial court or city docket. Criminal cases from the area run through North Carolina's District and Superior Court system in Beaufort County. District Court handles misdemeanors and early felony proceedings. Superior Court tries felonies. The Clerk of Superior Court maintains both divisions' public judicial files.

Protected Aurora documents, juvenile material, sealed cases, and confidential identifiers do not appear in the public view. Ask the clerk for a certified Aurora disposition when the result must be authoritative.

How Aurora Records Reach the County
Aurora records move by stage rather than through a city database. The responding agency creates the incident or arrest report. If there is local custody, detention staff create the booking file in Washington. The Beaufort County Clerk records filed charges, hearings, dispositions, and judgments. NCSBI receives fingerprint-based arrest data and later court dispositions for the state criminal-history repository.

The chain can have gaps or delays. A booking may precede the case, and a disposition may not yet be linked to a fingerprint arrest cycle. For a fuller own-record review, compare the agency event, certified clerk result, and NCSBI Right to Review rather than calling one source complete.
Aurora Fingerprints Require Washington Travel
Some Aurora record tasks still require a trip to Washington. The Beaufort County Sheriff provides walk-in fingerprint capture at 210 N. Market Street on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. A valid photo ID and $10 cash are required, and no appointment is needed. Fingerprint capture is a service step, not a completed criminal record check.
A person seeking their own statewide fingerprint-supported history must follow the NCSBI Right to Review instructions, submit the required card, form, identification, and fee to NCSBI, then compare any disputed arrest cycle with a certified court disposition. The clerk's courthouse counter is at 112 W. Second Street and can supply a $25 certified Beaufort-only name search on AOC-CR-314. Free noncertified court searches are available on courthouse public terminals.

Aurora Record Access Rules
North Carolina law governs access even when the event occurred in Aurora. Chapter 132 gives a right to inspect and copy public records at reasonable times and as promptly as possible, but it does not open every investigative page. The law identifies specified arrest and incident information as public while allowing protection of active investigative material, juvenile records, victim details, medical facts, and other confidential data. Aurora State Records Need the Right Tool
State systems divide by purpose. NCSBI Right to Review is the route for one's own statewide fingerprint-supported criminal history. The North Carolina registry supports Aurora-area searches by address, city and ZIP, coordinates, name, or Sex Registration Number. That registry is a separate civil database for qualifying convictions, not a general criminal-history search.
NCDAC Public Offender Search is for sentenced current or former state offenders and public supervision data. It is not the Beaufort County jail roster.
