Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit, search, and use of the site's content. Continuing to use a page signifies agreement. Anyone who does not accept the conditions should stop using the website.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no affiliation with a government body. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provide a consumer report for credit, employment, insurance, tenant screening, or another decision governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Its purpose is to organize official criminal-record access routes in Beaufort County and North Carolina. It is neither a consumer reporting agency nor a private investigation service.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site operated independently of government. It stores no official criminal-record database and cannot retrieve a government file, perform an official check, or submit a filing for a visitor.

The site points toward Beaufort County record custodians, including the sheriff and Clerk of Superior Court, and toward statewide resources operated by NCSBI and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. Some search tools are supplied by outside providers.

Access to official government records remains subject to the North Carolina Public Records Law and other confidentiality rules. Nothing in these terms expands a person's right to obtain a government record.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use of the site is conditioned on avoiding the following conduct:

  • Break any federal, state, or local law while using this site
  • Use information you find here to stalk, harass, or threaten anyone
  • Base hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions on content from this site
  • Try to break into our systems or gain access you are not supposed to have
  • Run bots, scrapers, or automated tools against our pages
  • Do anything that slows the site down or blocks other people from using it

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information obtained here or through a linked service must not be used to threaten, stalk, intimidate, harass, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. North Carolina warns that criminal misuse of information from the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry can be prosecuted. Registry access supports public safety awareness, not confrontation or vigilantism.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create background checks, credit reports, or any consumer report. Our advertising partners likewise do not turn this site into a service for applicant screening, rental decisions, insurance pricing, or credit judgments. Information here or in a linked tool must not be used to:

  • Decide whether to hire or fire someone
  • Screen potential renters or housing applicants
  • Judge creditworthiness or set insurance premiums
  • Determine who qualifies for licenses, permits, or government programs
  • Do anything else that falls under FCRA rules

A check required for an FCRA-regulated purpose must come from an authorized, compliant provider; this site cannot supply one.

5. No Legal Advice

Nothing published here is legal advice. General Beaufort County record procedures cannot determine how a charge, warrant, conviction, or expunction law applies to one person. Seek advice from a licensed North Carolina attorney for that analysis.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are supplied "as is." No warranty is made that:

  • The information here is accurate, complete, or current at any given time
  • The site will stay up and running without interruptions
  • Our pages are free of errors, bugs, or security holes
  • Results from our partner search tools will be thorough or accurate

Charges, dismissals, restrictions, and expunctions can change a criminal record after publication. Updates may lag. Content here is never an official statement from a sheriff, court, or government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to sheriff sites, court portals, state agencies, legal resources, and outside services. Their operators control content, availability, prices, and data practices. Review the destination's terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Beaufort County Criminal History or the relevant content partner. Copying, modifying, distributing, or creating derivative material requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we accept no liability for damages arising from site use or reliance on information obtained here or from a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the site or breach of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

North Carolina law governs these terms. Any dispute tied to use of the site must be brought in a court located in North Carolina. North Carolina's G.S. 15A-150 through 15A-153 separately control notice, confidential expunction records, and consequences for some dissemination after expunction.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised. A revision takes effect when the updated text is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or terminated at any time, with or without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, every remaining provision continues in effect. The affected language will be narrowed only as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

The Contact page provides the channel for questions about these terms.
